There hasn’t been a flurry of high end senior positions in January this year compared to the activity in December. What we are seeing at Profiler Recruitment this week is a sharp increase in mid level roles – however on a part time or contract basis. Extra arms and legs are needed for a variety of business needs – to implement new performance management systems, to support employee relations initiatives from the HR perspective and from the Marketing Communications perspective contract opportunities in the communications space for short term projects have come through. My advice to candidates looking for a change keep focused, working on developing your skills - there are many changes pending across major organisations which I believe will continue to drive work and income at the mid level, the big jobs wont be there for a while as businesses are planning their direction against the economy. Part time and contract work is continuing to be popular for employers to get the job done.
